And so it begins...

Recently, I was having lunch with my friend Lisa, and was explaining to her the plight of our new "computer".  I'm using the term computer loosely here, given that the device is really a way for us to access the internet from the road.  Its so small, its nearly impossible to type on -- it has no memory, so things like photo storage are a bit of an issue -- and finally, its Linux based.

After hearing my stories, Lisa suggested I photograph the computer for comparison sake.  So, for Lisa and everyone else -- Here is the "computer" next to my Mac.  I am smiling to myself right now, because in all fairness, the photo doesn't really show you just how tiny it is.

I thought there might be a few of you out there still thinking, "Its not that small!"  So, here it is with my garden variety dvd remote sitting on top of it.

How small is that????  So, dear reader, you might have to bear with us -- there will likely be typos, some odd misplaced photographs, and given that the screen is so small, it will likely take us ages to read and write email.  On the bright side -- you will be able to join us on our entire trip.  From smelly elephants to strange food to the excitement of the Olympics -- you will be there.  And I couldn't be happier about that!

If I may...

Dear reader,
If I may have a moment.  One sweet, fond moment.  There are so many things to say, so many stories to tell, so many people to thank.  It would be impossible.  It would also be impossible for me to convey how blessed I am (we are), but if you will indulge me -- I might try.

Once in a lifetime (it has to be once because -- it is that incredible) something so wonderful and spectacular happens to you, that you simply cannot comprehend it.  Its exactly what happened to Jason and I.
You see, by now, we feel old hat.  Charmed by our lives and our families, but not all that special -- in a good way.  And then -- in an instant (well, minus the traffic) we are surrounded by friends and much more importantly -- family, who set about to shower us with love and attention and make us feel as if there is no one else on earth more important than we are.  We were stunned -- the kindness, the love, the generosity, the unwavering "yeses" to any of our requests were above and beyond.  I have never.  I will never.

If I am to reflect on our day, these past weeks, I can honestly say -- thank you.  It was amazing.  Beyond any dream, wish or hope.  From the first tear to the final goodbye, everything was exactly as we had dreamt.

When people talk about dreams coming true -- I never knew.  But now, I know just what they mean.  For in this moment, I watched my dream come true.

Much love,
Meghan and Jason

(Of course, there were so many we missed -- saddened by their absence.  Please know, you are loved, we thought of you often, but most importantly, we'll celebrate soon.  The dream isn't static -- isn't over.  In fact, we hope it will continue for a lifetime.)
